Country News Flash 11/29/2010

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving taking time to be reflect on the things you have in you life to be thankful for... Don't get sucked into all the commercial buy buy buy and forget why we celebrate Christmas!  As we approach Christmas remember the true reason for the season!


Now here's your Country News Flash:



Willie Nelson was busted again for possessing six ounces of marijuana on this way from California to his home state of Texas.  His bus pulled into a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint around 9am on Friday. An officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the bus. Willie was taken into custody and booked but released the same day after posting a $2,500 bond.

Taking a look at the music and albums on the charts:
Brad Paisley scores another with his ‘Anything Like Me’  at the top of the Billboard’s country songs chart after just 16 weeks.
New #1 album is ‘Nothing Like This’ from Rascal Flatts. Keith Urban’s ‘Get Closer’ debuting at #2 and Taylor Swift fell back to #3  Looking at some new songs hitting the charts at #47 is Sugarland’s ‘Little Miss’ and Brad Paisley’s ‘This Is Country Music’ hits the charts at 52.
Tim McGraw’s new video ‘Felt Good on My Lips’ is out and CMT.com compares it to a sequel to his 1995 ‘I like it I love it’. Check it out and you decide.

We are almost upon Christmas and some Country stars have already started making their resolutions for 2010:
Jimmy Wayne: “Continue working hard and continue that worth ethic all the way!”
Justin Moore: “Probably not cuss as much and to be a good Dad. That’s obviously  not a ‘resolution’ because I’ve never been a dad before, but that’s my main goal for next year.”
Trent Tomlinson: “To quit smoking.”
Brad Cotter: “I resolve to make more time for my family and friends and try to be more available to them. Life is too short to waste it being stressed out about stuff that really doesn’t matter.”

Country News Flash 11/23/10

Trace Adkins is keeping busy and he tells the Tennessean newspaper that he wants to do voice-over work. He ads he wants to act and says living is about getting outside your comfort zone, sometimes even dangerous situations. Trace will be staring with Matthew McConaughey in ‘The Liincoln Lawyer’ which will hit theaters early next year. He told ‘The Boot’ he’s been really thinking about the book thing and that it will be political in nature voicing his options.

Miranda Lamberts will be performing on ‘The Grammy Nominations Concert Live-Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night’ on December 1st. It’s been a busy year for Miranda getting engaged to Blake Shelton, and won her first CMA on her Birthday on November 11th.

The Oak Ridge Boys are on the road doing their Christmas tour.  They’ve been doing it since 1988! Want to see where they will be click here

Tim McGraw has played on the big screen in ‘Friday Night Lights’and ‘The Blind Side’ where he received rave reviews and is now getting even more critical acclaim for his acting in the upcoming film ‘Country Strong’ which will have a limited release in Nashville and Los Angeles December 22nd and nation wide on January 7th. But did you know he turned down the role twice before finally saying yes? I’m looking forward to heading to see it and I hope you do too! Check out the trailer now here

Martina McBride says she can’t iron at least that is what she tweeted: “Here’s a list for ya. The things I iron well: Napkins. The things I suck at ironing: literally everything else.”

Country News Flash 11/22/10

If you’re looking for things to watch after your have stuffed yourself on Thanksgiving here you go:
James Otto will be on stage with one of his all-time musical heroes performing with Ronnie Milsap on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’. Taylor Swift will be on NBC with her hour-long ‘Speak Now’ special. Tonight GAC has a repeat of ‘Conversations From the Road’ with Toby Keith at 9pm and Taylor Swift will be on ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ at 11:35.

Sugarland will perform to honor everyday people that have committed their lives to change the world. ‘CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute’ will air Thanksgiving night on CNN at 8pm.  Others performing will be Bon Jovi, John Legend, Common, Melanie Fiona along with Kid  Rock and LL Cool J.

It only took 8 minutes to sale out for the concert near Boston that is nine months away for Kenny Chesney! The show is set for Aug 27th at Gillette Stadium. Kenny said “The love affair I share with the fans in New England is no like no other, and that has been built over the years”

And keep Eddie Montgomery and his family in your prayers. Eddie has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He will be going in for surgery to remove the cancerous tumor on December 4th in Charlotte.

Country News Flash 11/17/10

Dolly Parton is doing it again! Coming up this year she will be releasing her 43rd studio album! And she is planning to hit the road for her U.S. Tour in the summer of next year followed up by a European tour and then Australia in the fall! That’s Dolly always keeping busy!

The Annual country music festival held in Tuttle Creek Lake State park in Kan has announced the line up for the 15th anniversary! Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum and Eric Church will headline the 4 day festival June 23rd thru June 26th. Also performing will be Joe Nichols, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jerrod Niemann, Blake Shelton, Collin Ray and Sawyer Brown with more to be announced in the near future! Keep checking back for updates.

If you watched the CMA’s then you know all about the song “This is Country Music” from Brad Paisley! And after his performance of the song radio stations have been getting tons of calls to hear that song again! You can expect to hear the single on country radio in the near future. And did you know that Kix Brooks was a theater major in college? Well look for him to play the bad guy in a film called ‘Thrifty Store Cowboy” He says his character turns out to be not all bad but he’s hooked up with some really bad guys and he’s trying to hang with them. Country News Flash 11/16/10

Toby is a superstar with a career that spans more than 17 year but hasn’t been nominated for the coveted CMA since 2005 even though he has 9 platinum-selling albums and dozens of Top 10 singles and is touring non-stop. Toby tells ‘The Boot’ he decided about 5 years ago that he was not going to do the 364 days a year of politicking because he doesn’t live in Nashville. Toby keeps busy with his chain of I love This Bar & Grill restaurants, his latest single ‘Bullet’s in the Gun’ is one place away from landing in the Top 20 not to mention his concerts overseas for the soldiers! You’re still a superstar in the eyes of country fans all over the world Toby!

Rascal Flatts new album ‘Nothing Like This’ hits the stores today! They are on a new label after 10 years of being with Lyric Street Records. They made the move to Big Machine Records after Disney’s decision to close Lyric Street Records.
Pam Tillis, daughter of Country Music Hall of Fame member Mel Tillis are both lovers of cooking! Pam says the whole family loves to cook and she is going to be giving Country Weekly readers new food and recipes in a column called Pam & Co which kicks off in the November 22nd issue. Once a month pam will share some of her favorite recipes and show you how to make healthy dishes.

Carrie Underwood is not only singing but co-wrote the closing song in the highly-anticipated file ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ which opens nationwide on December 10th. Carrie is keeping busy and will also star in a movie ‘Surfer Girl’ due to hit theaters next year.

And CMT’s first scripted sitcom, ‘Working Class’ premieres with back-to-back episodes on January 28th. Meet the In-law’s premieres Jan. 21st and for a fourth season ‘My Big Redneck Wedding with Tom Arnold comes on the same night! TV fun for the family without having to flip the channel!

Country News Flash 11/15/10

Well it’s finally over when it comes to the lawsuit with Kristen Hall, the former member of Sugarland. Kristen which was filed back in 2008 claiming that Jennifer and Kristian didn’t share profits and losses when the band split. The case was set for trial today but was settle out of court on Friday. The settlement was not disclosed but Kristen was asking for 1.5 million, guess she was happy with the settlement to end the drama!

More money than she’ll ever know what to do with at her age! That’s what you can say about Taylor Swift. According to Forbes Taylor placed ninth on the list of 10 top-earning women in Hollywood making an estimated $45 million between June1 2009 and June of this  year! Oprah was at #1 with $315 million Britney Spears still had plenty coming in with $65 million and Miley Cyrus beat out Taylor with $48 million!

Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson sung a wonderful Duet on the CMA Awards show “Don’t you Wanna Stay” which you can listen to online! Click here Look for it to hit the radio soon because fans are burning up the phones with request for it!

I'm sorry but I have been out of my own loop and want to thank all of you for being concerned with me not being on top of things with my blog.
I had to take a trip across the country and am just getting back into the groove of things after a bout with some serious food poisoning.
