Call them the three outdoorsmen! I’m talking about Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Michael Waddell! Their album Bone Collector: The Brotherhood Album was inspired by a hunting trip! And if you’ve been to any store lately you’ll see it’s not even Halloween but they have Christmas decorations up already so I’ll let you know that Martina McBride will be taking the stage staring in the 2010 Home for the Holiday’s concert in Nashville. Tickets are available at www.nashvillesysmphony.org.

In the past The Judds have rode the Santa Train but this year the will be riding together. In case you don’t know what that is it is a train that makes 14 stops in the mountains of Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee on November 20^th dropping off tons of toys to thousands of residents who live along the route. This year is the 68^th year for the Santa Train.

The Farm tour with Luke Bryan continues. Luke says “the farm tour was something that I used to do on a tiny scale back when I was in school at Georgia Southern and we’d go set up under a tractor barn.” He also said “nothing would make me happier than in four or five years to have 20 or 30 of these farm tour shows from Georgia to somewhere in Indiana to wherever it seems like the place to take it and keep those going”

Ronnie Dunn is working on a solo album that should be out early next year and he has recorded a solo track for Country Strong, the upcoming film starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw which is ‘She’s acting single’ (I’m drinking doubles)

Last Friday Loretta Lynn was honored for her 50 years in the business at the Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum in Hurricane Mills, TN. The ceremony was held outside the museum under a tent where family, friends and close business associates ate catfish and BBQ! Loretta shared a little known fact about her signature song ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ saying “I had six more verses to that song. My producer Owen Bradley, looked at me and said Loretta, there’s already been one El Paso” so there will never be another one.. Go take about six verses off of that song and that’s what I had to do!

Alan Jackson is heading down under! Yep, he along with Miranda Lambert will be overseas newest year for their first concerts in Australia. It’s a short tour from March 4^th to the 11^th but I’m sure it will be a great one!

Taking a look at the top 3 country singles on the billboard charts #1 Kenny Chesney’s The Boys of Fall” Josh Turner has moved up a notch to #2 with “All Over Me” and Easton Corbin is holding his own with “Roll With Me” at 3.

Tune into GAC for the reopening of the historic Grand Ole Opry House starting at 9pm tonight (9/28/2010) as Country Comes home: An Opry Live Celebration’ lots of your favorite artist will be there and some that will be performing are Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Charlie Daniels, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Little Jimmy Dickens, Keith Urban, Josh Turner and more again that is on GAC tonight at 9.

Lyle Lovett will be appearing on the ABC Drama ‘Castle’ set to air in November he will play the role of Agent Darryl Shafer which is being described as ‘a larger than life yet shadowy government figure who plays his cards close to the chest. Castle airs on Monday’s at 10pm. 

And hitting the big screen soon you will see Travis Tritt that’s right! He’s on location in Georgia shooting scenes for the upcoming movie “Fishers of Men” playing the role of Eddie Waters in the Christian-based tale of twin brothers who lead two very different lives. Now get this Travis beat out full time actor Sam Elliot and fellow Country star Alan Jackson to get the role Can’t wait to see that one!

American Express has started something new called parings where they have Food + Wine + Music where a famous singer performs at a night catered by a well-known Chef and winemaker and On Wednesday Tim McGraw will be performing at Nashville’s Union Station hotel while chef Tim Love serves up his best and Ravenswood winemaker Joel Peterson shares the wine!

Get your DVR ready tonight if you’re a Kenny Chesney fan! On “Invitation Only” at 10 tonight Kenny will be performing some of his biggest hits and also debut five new songs from “Hemingway’s Whiskey”. Along with answering questions from fans!

The Boot announced the top country artist tweets of the week from last week and they are from Josh Thompson (@thejoshthompson) with “Just met Steven Seagal” I fake Karate chopped him. He didn’t think it was as funny as I did!” Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton) tweeted “Let me tell ya… Carmex, though moist and spreadable, isn’t that good on a sandwich.” And from the Zac Brown Band (@zacbrownband) “in the time it takes Maroon 5 to fix their hair you could’ve listened to our new CD, ‘You Get What You Give,’ in stores now.”

Mike McGuire, formerly of Shenandoah who has been keeping busy by writing songs and singing demo’s until now. He has finally released his own 6-track solo debut which you can get thru Amazon, itunes and other online retailers. Don’t have a date for retail sales yet but I’ll keep you posted.

The book has not be titled yet but it will include her writing about her mom and stepfather, her music career and recent struggles in her divorce. Mel Tillis’ comedy album “You Ain’t Gonna believe this” is out now. Mel recently talking about how he never talked onstage until Minni Pearl insisted that he speak to the crowd; He said “Miss Minni, I can’t they’ll laugh  she replied “no they won’t they’ll laugh with you. So from that day on he did and the next thing he knew he was on the Johnny Carson Show!

When Randy Houser participates in a wedding, he does the marrying. Yes you heard me right Randy was the ordained minister to do the honors and did so for songwriter Rob Hatch to Shannna Neese.

It’s been almost 25 years after Hootie & the Blowfish first formed during his college days at the University of Sought Carolina and now Darius Rucker and his band will be honored with an unveiling of a monument made of steel and black granite that measures 20 feet long, 10 feet wide and at least 12 feet tall! This will take place on October 21^st. and don’t forget on Oct 12^th his latest album “Charleston, SC 1966” will the stores.

He may sing about being pretty good at drinking beer but Billy Currington is really a health nut and prefers natural foods and beverages! Billy tells the boot, “I’ve been making my own tea” he adds I’ve found all these flowers from the islands down there, so I started ordering them. They’re different kinds and you dry them out and use honey and these flowers and spring water and so I’ve been making my own tea!

Good Morning!
Here are some stories for today:

She recorded her first hit single when she was only a teenager and now with over 50 years in the business she is still writing, recording and performing. I’m talking about the one and only Loretta Lynn. She will be honored with the recording academy president’s merit award in a special ceremony on Oct. 12^th at the Ryman Auditorium. It’s been a great year for Loretta Lynn and back in January she received the Grammy lifetime achievement award!

Music row is reporting that Montgomery Gentry have split from their longtime label Columbia Records. Montgomery Gentry’s latest release “for our heroes” was a cracker barrel exclusive release that sold 25 thousand, 9 hundred and 33 copies in its’ debut week back in may of 2009 the same month that they were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

Some big names have donated their instruments for an online action to support the flood relief efforts in Nashville. Nash 2 0h is handling the auction. Brad paisley, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Vince gill and Peter Frampton just to name few. Way to go guys

Earl Scruggs was hospitalized in Chapel Hill North Carolina on Wednesday after arriving for a sold-out concert. Family members say that Earl is feeling better and his condition is not cause for serious concern.

The main thing is that I like it! (When he commented about his current album)

Country News Flash Update

Earl Scruggs is in a North Carolina hospital in Chapel Hill.  The Bluegrass Blog reported that Earl was in town for a sold out show on the University of North Carolina campus (9/15/2010) but was taken to the hospital shortly after he arrived. Family members say he is feeling better and his condition is not cause for serious concern.  Earl is 86 and many wish him a speedy recovery!
